Updated: Jan 13, 2022

January 17th 2022 would have been Betty Whites 100th birthday.

Betty White is an American actress, TV hostess, author, comedian and animal rights activist. She was born on January 17th 1922 in Oak Park Illinois. She began acting at the age of 20 and has gone on to be one of Hollywood's most loved actors. She is also famous for her adoring love of animals and this was often played out in both her personal life and public appearances. Betty White has been quoted as saying “If my dog doesn't like you, I probably don't either”

It is a well-known fact that Betty White loves animals. Her love for them is so great that she even made a documentary about it! After she passed, the internet was quick to pay homage to her work by remembering some of her most memorable quotes about animals. In honor of her and her love and support of animals, people everywhere are coming together and donating to animal support groups in her name on her birthday.

But let's extend that to birthday month! And longer!

Animal adoption is a very rewarding experience. You are giving an animal the opportunity to have a good life, give it what they need, and show them that they are cared about. It is an experience with an animal that will change your life for the better. It will make you feel good about yourself, give you the opportunity to be of service to an animal in need, and provide you with a friend for life.

For many people, pets are a part of the family. They provide companionship and unconditional love, and there are numerous benefits to adopting an animal instead of buying one. For instance, it reduces the number of animals euthanized in shelters every year.

How Can I Help Animals Who Need Me?

We all know that animals are in need of help. It can be in the form of food, water, shelter, medical care or just being rescued from being abused. There are so many ways that we can apply to help animals in need. The easiest way to help an animal is by donating money for them to get food and water. This is the most cost-effective way to help animals because you are not actually giving them anything but rather paying for them to get what they need. You can donate money through your credit card or PayPal account online or donate by sending a check with your name on it by mail.

You can also volunteer at a local animal shelter where you will find many opportunities of helping animals in need whether it's walking dogs, feeding cats or cleaning cages. Your

volunteering at a local animal shelter is a great way to give back and have a positive impact on the community. Volunteering also helps build confidence in children and teens. These volunteers can gain leadership skills, experience working with people from all walks of life, and develop empathy with animals.

What is the Difference Between Pet Rescues and Shelters?

Animal shelters and pet rescues are organizations that provide a safe place to house and care for animals that have been abandoned or lost. Animal shelters and pet rescues exist in every state and in most major cities in America. Rescuers work with animal shelters and pet rescues to rescue animals, foster them until they can be adopted, and educate the public on how to prevent animal abuse.

Differences Between Shelters And Rescues: Shelters work to maintain a healthy population of animals by keeping them in their care until they find new homes for them. Whereas rescuers focus on finding homes for these abandoned or lost animals instead of keeping them in the shelter system indefinitely.

What is the Best Way to Find a Good Animal Rescue or Adoption?

The best way to find a good animal rescue is to ask friends, family members, or coworkers who have adopted animals in the past. Ask them what organization they used and how easy it was for them.

Some organizations allow you to adopt animals online while others require you to visit their home or office in person. Research the organization that you are interested in adopting from before committing any money or time into the process.

Donating is an act of love.

Animal shelters need a range of items for their furry friends.

Food: Food is a big expense for animal shelters as they have to feed their animals three times a day. Dog and cat food can be donated or some animal shelter will take pre-packaged food as well as pet treats.

Shelter Supplies: To provide a safe environment, animal shelters need bedding, blankets, leashes, collars, toys, cleaning supplies and other things for their furry friends.

Financial Support: Animal shelters also need financial support to help them continue the care of the animals that come into their facilities. Contributions of money can be made online or by dropping off a check at the shelter.

People can also volunteer their time there or donate money to help them out.

Make a donation the month of January, or any day in honor of Betty White, our love for her and our love for animals are a responsibility to be stewards to those in need.

Thank you Betty White for your years of entertainment and love!
